가정의 달인 5월에 소비자들은 어버이날을 앞두고 카네이션 비용 상승으로 인해 부담감을 느끼고 있다. 꽃집 자영업자들은 유류비, 자재비 등으로 인해 꽃을 가져오는 가격이 올랐으며, 판매자들은 판매 대금도 인상시켜야 한다는 어려움에 직면하고 있다. 지난 4월1일부터 이달 4일까지 기준으로 한국농수산식품유통공사 화훼공판장에서 가장 많이 거래된 카네이션 혼합(스프레이) 품종의 평균 경매 낙찰 가격은 5559원이었다. 도매 가격은 낮아졌지만, 전기세·유류비나 화분 및 상자 등 자재 비용이 늘면서 소비자들은 도매 가격 하락을 체감하기 어려운 상황이다. 이에 대해 소비자들은 부모님 모시고 좋은 식사 대접하는 것이 더 효과적인 방법이라는 의견을 나타내고 있으며, 꽃가게마다 가격이 천차만별인 상황이다. 또한, 경제가 좋지 않고 물가가 상승한 만큼 소비자들은 비싼 꽃 대신 다른 다양한 방법을 선택하는 경향이 늘어나고 있다. 따라서 꽃값 인상은 불가피하지만, 가급적 인상을 자제해야 소비를 유도할 수 있을 것으로 전문가들은 분석하고 있다.
